Trucks for medium distances, for city cleaning and other special tasks as well as for long-distance transport of goods are particularly well suited for the use of fuel cell systems to achieve emission targets in the freight sector due to their requirement profile.
In this segment a high double-digit number of vehicles are already on the road with VISTAH fuel cell systems. Systems up to 250 kW are used here, depending on the size and power requirements of the respective application.
The performance requirements of a truck are determined in direct exchange with the customer, either on the basis of existing data or through simulations that take into account driving behavior, route, loads and additional energy requirements. This also gives the necessary hydrogen storage size. A hybrid powertrain is then designed from which the required fuel cell power is derived. In the field of truck applications, this power requirement can vary greatly: from 50 kW to over 200 kW. The VISTAH systems are selected and integrated according to these requirements.
